Fun, Fun, Fun

Until your daddy takes the T-bird away!  Now that song brings back memories!!!

Here's an easy card I made with a cute summer theme.  I got the picture off a piece of e-mail stationery.  I took the main picture and the border picture and grouped them together using Microsoft Word!  Printed out on glossy photo paper and backed and attached to a card base...how could it be any easier!

How About a Birthday RAK

After receiving so many lovely birthday cards from people in my card groups I decided to return the gesture.  I got a new punch from Martha Stewart and used it to create the first of my RAK's (random acts of kindness).  It's for someone in one of my card groups but I'm not telling who...lol!
This punch is one of the deep cutting punches.  This time I did the punching on the front opening and then trimmed the card to size.  I added some punched stars and then lined the inside with a white insert.  Pretty cool...I love this punch!

She Sells Sea Shells

Here's my version of "By the Sea" pg 46 of CardMaker July 2010 issue.
I embossed the left side of a turquoise rectangle with Cuttlebug's embossing folder called "traffic jam".  I took an emery nail file and lightly sanded the ridges and then glued that piece to the card base.  Next I made three different cuts with "Labels Two" Nestabilities from Spellbinders.  Two were on the green and turquoise cardstock pieces and the last was the smallest size which I used on the seashell picture.  Before adhering the label pieces I cut two pieces of matching ribbons and tied them around the card's front piece, tied a knot and trimmed the ends.

Thank You Friend

My good friend Linda took me to lunch on my birthday!  We went to the new Olive Garden in town and had delicious food!  We spent three hours shooting the breeze and catching up.  I made her a Thank You card with one of her favorite characters on it.
That's right...it's Tigger!  The pattern was made by one of the girls in my Iris Folding group.  Isn't it cute!!!  I added a sticker sentiment and sticker flowers to the front of the card base after attaching stripes in the Tigger colors.  On the inside I wrote a personal note.

And Then Some More

As I sat reading my e-mail today I found myself looking at a scrap of white cardstock that I stamped on and punched out of yesterday.  An idea occurred to me that I could make it into another card and this is what I came up with.
The white rectangle with the bush had a square punched out of it.  I backed it with a black rectangle which was attached to a slightly larger white rectangle with some foam squares.  I stamped another bird on scrap and punched it out with a circle punch and glued it into the black square.  All of this was attached to a black card base.  The blackbird reminded me of the Paul McCartney song and that is what I chose for the words on the front.

Black and White and Then Some

I got my CardMaker magazine for July 2010 the other day and was inspired to get my silhouette stamps out and make a card using my interpretation of a different technique (pg 14).
I used a Penny Black stamp called "nature's dance" and black ink and stamped several times on scrap cardstock.  I took my 1 1/4" square stamp by Paper Studio and punched out six squares.  I made sure that one of them included the blackbird image.  Next I cut six  1 1/2" squares from black cardstock and attached the stamped square to the black square with a foam square for dimension.  Lastly, I attached all the squares to the front of a white carstock base card.

To the Beach Again

I liked yesterday's card so much that I decided to make another one.  This time I used red as the base and strips of black cardstock as the door marks and handle.
On the inside I added a "beachy" poem and a couple of palm trees!

Let's Hit the Beach

With all the heat across the country (in the 100's at my house) this beach card popped easily into my mind. This month's swap theme in my Iris Folding group was "Road Trip"
I decided to find a car photo with a "beachy" background.  This one fit the bill perfectly!  I used a sharp blade and cut all of the car out except for the front and back lights, the windshield and the tires.  Then I used this pattern for the Iris Folding.  I thought is worked well because it reminded me of a racing strip.

After the folding was finished I mounted it to the black card base.  I cut out the door handle from the original picture and adhered it to the car.  I also used two pieces of black thread to recreate the line of the door.  Lastly, I used Microsoft Word to create the caption.

Mouse Mischief

Today I had a lot of fun making this combination bookmark and card.
I started by stamping my House Mouse image (Feeder Friends) in black ink on two pieces of white cardstock.  I trimmed one to a smaller version of the image and then I used various pens and pencils to color both images exactly alike.  I matted both on black paper and then onto the purple cardstock.
This is the card and below is the bookmark.
I attached a flat sheet magnet to the inside flap at the bottom of the bookmark.  To the other side I attached a flat sheet of metal.  The metal came from the top of an orange juice lid.  I used a tin snip to cut a rectangular shape.  Lastly I lined up the pictures and let the magnet hold the bookmark to the card.
The inside message was made with Microsoft Word, printed out, trimmed and then I used purple chalk to soften the edges.  All of this was glued to the inside of the card.
